Mid-Century Modern, Tacoma WA
This mid-century whole home renovation reimagined a once-compartmentalized layout into an open concept floor plan, cohesive space tailored for modern family living and entertaining - and uninterrupted Puget Sound views
With one homeowner being a professional chef, the kitchen design was central to the transformation. The new layout prioritizes efficiency and flow, anchored by walnut lower cabinetry, matte black upper cabinets and towers, and a dramatic quartz slab backsplash with integrated ledge and concealed lighting. The result is a kitchen that feels both refined and highly functional.
This was a true structural remodel—not just a cosmetic update. We completed a full main-floor rewire, installed a double electrical panel upgrade, and coordinated new gas service to accommodate a professional-grade cooktop. Every system was modernized to ensure long-term performance and code compliance.
Throughout the home, we introduced intentional moments of detail. A former entry closet became a statement powder room with patterned tile, mitered quartz, and a walnut floating vanity. Adjacent closets were reimagined into a bar and coffee pantry with integrated lighting and inset appliances.
Two fireplaces were thoughtfully redesigned to create cohesion. A sculptural, floor-to-ceiling surround finished in hand-applied microcement anchors the nook, while the living room hearth was refinished in the same material—creating a subtle visual thread across spaces.
Custom millwork, site-built stair railings, and site-finished white oak flooring unify the design.
The result is a modern mid-century renovation that feels calm, intentional, and deeply connected to its surroundings—an elevated home designed to perform beautifully and live effortlessly.
